Director general of police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur said that the objective of this competition is to raise awareness about road safety among the general public, through children.

The DGP said that in the 2016-17 competition, more than 44 lakh students participated and got their names registered in the Limca Book of World Records.

The students from Class 1 to 12 will participate in this competition and they have been divided into three categories- primary, middle and senior secondary students.

The students of each category have received road safety study materials tailored to their age and educational level, ensuring they understand road safety facts effectively, the DGP said in a statement.

Inspector general of traffic, Hardeep Doon, said that nodal officers have been appointed in all districts for the road safety quiz competition which senior police officers, including IGs and SPs, will oversee.

The preliminary round of this competition was held at the school level on October 13 in which over 42 lakh students participated.
