60-year-old woman found murdered in Himachal’s Kullu

A 60-year-old woman was found murdered in Kullu district on Monday.

The victim, Shakuntala Devi, a widow, lived alone in Garsa village. Kullu superintendent of police Gurdev Sharma said the woman’s body was found dumped near the ‘panchayat ghar’ in the village. “The body had injury marks on the head and other parts of the body,” he said.

A team of forensic experts from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory was dispatched to the spot to collect evidence.

On the basis of the statement of the deceased’s daughter, an FIR has been registered against an unidentified person under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

This is the second murder reported in the district in three days. On June 24, a Delhi resident had killed his wife’s male friend in a Manali hotel before shooting himself.
