85 marks in one score card, 520 on another: Punjab and Haryana HC summons NEET candidate’s record from NTA

The Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the National Testing Agency to produce a 19-year-old student’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) record after she alleged discrepancy in her result.
“Let the original OMR sheet ...as well as the score cards be produced before this court in a sealed cover,” the bench of justices Suvir Shegal and Deepinder Singh Nalwa said while posting the matter for Friday.
The petitioner, Deeksha Devi, a resident of Gurdaspur, approached the high court complaining that two different score cards had been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). One score card showed 85 marks out of 720, whereas the second, released earlier, had 520 marks.
Appearing for the NTA, lawyer Arun Gosain told the court that she had submitted a representation before the NTA and it had been decided.
In her plea, the student alleged that the NTA released NEET candidates’ scanned OMR sheets on its website on July 13. After she matched her responses in the OMR sheet with the official answer key, her score came out to be 520 out of 720.
However, when the NEET result was declared on July 16, her score dropped to 85 out of 720. Just a day later, NTA released another OMR sheet, with a different result.
She escalated this before NTA, which then released a fresh result card via e-mail on July 19, reflecting her score as 520 out of 720.
Alarmed by differing results, the petitioner submitted, she visited the NTA office on July 20 and filed a written complaint. However, subsequently, on July 27, her marks were again switched to 85, leading her to move court.
