A joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the 22 Rashtriya Rifles have recovered incriminating materials and a cache of arms and ammunition from the overground workers’ possession, a police spokesperson said. A pistol, magazine, 10 rounds and 11 grenades were recovered from their possession.

“Acting on a tip off from a sister agency on the movement of the main handler of the module, the security forces established a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) grid in Sopore. The main handler, Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat of Srinagar and overground worker Ishfaq Ahmed Shah of Budgam were arrested with incriminating material and arms and ammunition,” the spokesperson said. After the duo’s arrest, two other terror associates, Abdul Majeed Kumar of Baramulla and Abdul Rashid Kumar of Pattan were arrested.

The spokesperson said that preliminary investigation had revealed that the busted terrorist module of AGuH was being handled by Ahsaan Dar and one ‘Chaudhary’ from across the border, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“The module was instructed to ensure continuous supply of arms and ammunition in the Valley for attacking outsiders, civilians and security forces to instil fear in the minds of general public,” the spokesperson said.
