Bishnoi gang member arrested with weapons in Chandigarh

The district crime cell of Chandigarh Police on Thursday arrested a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang near the bus stand in Raipur Kalan village.
The accused has been identified as Aman Kumar, 22, of Khezargarh village in Zirakpur. Police recovered a countrymade pistol and two live cartridges from his possession when he was arrested. After interrogating him, another countrymade pistol was recovered.
The accused was produced before a court on Thursday and sent to judicial custody. A case under Arms Act was registered at Mauli Jagran police station.
Police arrested Aman based on information provided by Deepak alias Deepu Banur, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who had been arrested for his involvement in the firing at hotelier Rakesh Singla’s house in Sector 33.
Police said Aman’s name had cropped up during the investigation of an Arms Act case registered on April 12 in which one Karan Sharma was arrested with a country made weapon and 10 live cartridges.
Sharma had told the police that he is an associate of gangsters Kali Rajput alias Kali Shooter and Deepak alias Deepu Banur, who is in contact with Lawrance Bishnoi Gang. Sharma had told police that they arrange arms and ammunition to extort the money from hoteliers and businessmen on behest of Bishnoi gang.
Deepu, who is facing trial in around 20 cases, was then brought on production warrant on August 22 in connection to this case. Banur disclosed that Aman carries illegal weapon and delivers them on his behest.
