Challans issued at Karnal toll plaza for number plate tempering

A police team led by sub-inspector Baldev Kumar conducted the inspection at the toll plaza and issued challans after finding tampered number plates, reportedly done to evade toll fees

Karnal police along with NHAI on Thursday carried out a special campaign to check vehicles with tempered number plates at the Gharaunda toll plaza and issued nearly 100 challans.

A police team led by sub-inspector Baldev Kumar conducted the inspection at the toll plaza and issued challans after finding tampered number plates, reportedly done to evade toll fees.

Toll manager Neeraj Sharma said that the Gharaunda toll plaza has been barrier-free since May 25.

“Following this, some drivers were attempting to pass through the toll plaza by tampering with their vehicle number plates to avoid paying toll fees,” he said.

Sharma said that the toll plaza management informed the police about vehicles with tampered number plates and cops conducted a surprise checking.
