Chandigarh: After sunny weather, brace for thunder, rain

After warm and sunny weather over the past few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain in the city from Tuesday onwards.
As a Western Disturbance (WD) is active in the region, the department has predicted light to moderate rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, along with chances of thunder and lightning.
The change in weather will also lead in a dip in the day temperature.
Another WD is likely to affect the city over the weekend as well, bringing along more rain on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, due to clear skies, the maximum temperature increased from 23°C on Sunday to 25.6°C on Monday, 5.3 degrees above normal and highest in January so far.
It was also higher than last year, when the maximum temperature had gone up to 22°C on January 3 and January 4. In 2021, at 25.8°C, the warmest January day was on the fifth.
The minimum temperature also rose from 6.6°C to 6.7°C, 1.1 degree above normal. Over the next three days, the maximum temperature will remain between 18°C and 22°C, and the minimum temperature between 10°C and 12°C.
