He was 80 and had been a member of the CKD, a 117-year-old Sikh organisation that runs more than 50 educational institutes, orphanages, old age homes and other human welfare institutions, for decades.

CKD senior member Rajinder Singh Marwaha said, “He suffered from a heart attack and died on reaching the hospital.” A civil contractor by profession, Nirmal Singh was elected president of CKD in February 2019.
