Chandigarh : Punjab Congress MLA Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Thursday asked the Punjab government to release dues to sugarcane growers.

Raising the matter during zero hour, the Fatehgarh Churian legislator said the state government has announced ₹401 per quintal as state advise price (SAP) for sugarcane out of which a share of ₹55 was to be contributed by the state government. But the state has not released its share.
“ ₹47 crore is pending for a single sugar mill in Batala which is being run in a cooperative mode,” he said.
The Congress MLA also demanded repair of Bhalowali road, lifeline for people of 50-60 villages in his constituency.
During the zero hour, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA Ashwani Sharma diverted the attention of the House towards allegations levelled by only Aam Aadmi Party MLA in Jammu and Kashmir Mehraj Malik, that contractors from Punjab who are engaged in mining of sand and gravel, bring ‘chita’ drug for supply in J&K.
“Your party has levelled allegation, so I ask the government to take corrective steps so that Punjab and Punjabis are not ridiculed in other states,” Sharma said.
AAP legislator from Amritsar (Central) Ajay Gupta said small shop owners in Amritsar have to face hassles in getting electricity meters renewed as they are asked to bring no objection certificate from master town planning department. “Getting NOC is an impossible task, so I request that this system be eased,” he said in the House.
AAP MLA from Moga Amandeep Kaur demanded that registries of properties be allowed in Battanganj area of city, which was developed in 1901 by the Britishers. “There are other such colonies in the state where registries have been allowed so on the same pattern, the people living in my constituency be allowed,” she added.
Call attention motion
AAP’s Mansa MLA Vijay Singla demanded strengthening of road leading from thermal plant located in Banawali village in his constituency to Bhikhi, Sunam, Bhawanigarh and Patiala.
Replying on the matter, PWD minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the estimates and tendering process to strengthen the road is underway. For a section of road that fall under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the estimates and the proposal has been sent for approval.
