The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of crime branch Kashmir on Sunday filed a chargesheet against two persons ofnNorth Kashmir for falsely claiming illiteracy, and obtaining altered dates of birth through fraudulent certificates. This led to incorrect service records and unlawful extension of service tenure.

Officials said that Ghulam Mohammad Bhat and Assadullah Bhat, both residents of Rakhi Shilwat, Sumbal of Bandipora district, used fraudulent certificates to secure extension in government service, said officials.

“The EOW, Kashmir, of crime branch J&K has filed a chargesheet in FIR under Sections 420, 468, and 471 RPC before the court of judicial magistrate 1st Class, Sumbal, against the two persons for offences relating to cheating and forgery,” a Crime Branch spokesperson said.

The investigators found that the accused concealed their educational qualifications, falsely claimed illiteracy, and obtained altered dates of birth through fraudulent certificates. “This led to incorrect service records and unlawful extension of service tenure. They gained undue financial benefits, causing loss to the State exchequer,” the spokesperson said.
