Dog pound at Raipur Kalan to be operational by March next year: MC

A state-of-the-art dog pound with a capacity of 310 kennels will be made functional at Raipur Kalan by March 2023, a senior officer of MC engineering department said the work is in full swing

The Chandigarh municipal corporation on Monday stated that a state-of-the-art dog pound with a capacity of 310 kennels will be made functional at Raipur Kalan by March 2023.

The state-of-the-art dog pound, which is being built on about 2 to 2.50 acres at Raipur Kalan, will have a facility of sterilising about 1,000 stray dogs. (HT File)

The pound will also have a dog care unit where injured canines will be treated. It will also house a laboratory, a hospital and an operation theatre for dogs. Along with sterilisation of unclaimed dogs, their vaccination will also be done. The centre, which is being built on about 2 to 2.50 acres, will have a facility of sterilising about 1,000 stray dogs.

A senior officer of MC engineering department said the work is in full swing and it will be operational by March 2023, he said.
