With 100% purchase of wheat and 99 % payments cleared already to the farmers for the procured crop, the district administration said that it has ensured a smooth and hassle-free procurement season.

Various agencies have procured 8.06 lakh metric ton wheat, around 99.99% of the arrival, at the grain markets and purchase centres in the district.
In the past 72 hours, procurement agencies have lifted 92% of stock and the process is being expedited as officials have been warned to avoid any undue delays.

Deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik said that emphasis was laid on quick procurement of the crop so that farmers do not have to wait for buyers in the markets.
Malik added that officials had visited the grain markets under their jurisdiction on a regular basis and submitted daily reports for monitoring. She said that elaborate arrangements were made at the mandis to ensure smooth procurement, lifting and payments of wheat crop.
