Police have arrested a Kharar resident for stealing a gold bangle from a Sector-22 shop where he is employed.

Police said, Bittu Verma, the manager of Durga Trading Company in Sector 22, alleged that their employee, Baldeep Singh of MC Colony, Kharar, stole a gold bangle weighing 28.27 gm on July 25.
The complainant said the CCTV footage showed Singh stealing the bangle, which he said cost around ₹1.65 lakh, from its tray and carrying it with him while leaving the shop. On detecting the theft, he filed a police complaint.
A case under Section 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of master) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was subsequently registered at the Sector-17 police station.
Following a probe, police arrested Singh on Monday. He was presented before a court on Tuesday and sent to a one-day police remand.
Police said the accused had been working at the shop since January 2021.
