The farmers partially occupied the toll plaza and allowed passage of vehicles only on two lanes, which led to traffic jam-like situations. Moreover, they pitched tent on the Patiala-Delhi highway in the same way as they continued for over a year during the farm agitation.

Farmers alleged that the Haryana government’s announcement of giving compensation turned out to be false for them.

“We did not get even a single penny in Jind despite tall promises made by the BJP-JJP coalition government,” farmers said.

Khap leader Satbir Pahalwan said they did not free toll plazas but will implement it if the government fails to compensate the farmers.

“Crops at large level had been damaged and girdawari was also carried out by revenue officials but nothing has been done so far. We are planning state-wide protests if the government tries to betray farmers,” he added.

ADC Gupta told the farmers that they have not received a budget from the Haryana government so far.

“DC Manoj Kumar reached Chandigarh on Wednesday to ascertain the reason for delay in budget and thereafter every farmer will get their compensation within the time,” he said.
