The accused, Anuj and his brother Anna of Sector 11, and their three unidentified accomplices were booked on the complaint of the victim, Kunal.

In his statement to the police, Kunal, who runs an ambulance service at PGIMER, said he went to school with Anuj, adding, “After getting married eight-years ago and having two kids, I started avoiding Anuj, who would pick fights and had anger issues. After I asked him not to visit my house, he developed a grudge against me.”

The victim, who is being treated at PGI’s trauma centre, said he was sitting near his ambulance parked near PU’s Gate No 2 around 1.30 am when Anuj and his brother, along with three others, reached the spot in their car.

They allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, injuring him on his head, left eye, an arm and on the thigh.

The accused escaped the spot after threatening him of dire consequences in case of a police complaint.

The absconding accused have been booked under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (voluntarily causing hurt) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 11 police station.
