Haryana gears up for fresh round of G20 meetings in July

After hosting the Group of 20 (G20) anti-corruption and agriculture working groups meet in March, Haryana is again gearing up to host two additional rounds of discussions in Gurugram next month.

The first event, Startups-20 Shikhar, will be organised by the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) in collaboration with the state government on July 3 and 4 in Gurugram. The second event on crime and security will be organised by the Union ministry of home affairs on July 13 and14.

Haryana chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Wednesday reviewed the arrangements with the senior officers of the state and Union government.

Sharing details about the scheduled events, the chief secretary said the conference on crime and security will address the challenges posed by emerging technologies such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), artificial intelligence (AI), and the metaverse, and their impact on crime and security. He added that the conference will provide a platform for experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the world to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights, and develop strategies.

Around 800 delegations from G-20 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and the European Union, would participate in the conference, an official spokesperson said.

Nine countries — Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain, and the UAE, have also been invited as guests to the conference.
