IPL: Tickets for Punjab Kings games in Mohali to be sold from March 24
Tickets for Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders (April 1) and Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans (April 13) will be available at the stadium box office from March 24
Punjab Kings has announced the launch of their ticket sales for the first two home games at IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Tickets for Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders (April 1) and Punjab Kings vs Gujarat Titans (April 13) will be available at the stadium box office from March 24. The tickets will be available at IS Bindra PCA stadium in Mohali, gate no 2, gate no 2A and booth no 9 and 10 from 11am to 6pm. Tickets for the first two games are also available online on Paytm.
221 quintals of big fish removed from Sukhna Lake
As part of its 10-day activity to maintain the ecological balance of Sukhna Lake, the UT animal husbandry and fisheries department removed nearly 221 quintals of large and old fish. The department carried out the activity from March 12 to 22 in consultation with the UT forest department and zoology department of Panjab University.
Two-day hockey trials from tomorrow
RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Academy (RGPHA) will conduct open trials for boys’ born between November 1, 2008, and December 31, 2009, for their residential academy. The participants must be residents of Punjab. The trials are scheduled to be held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, on March 25 and March 26, 8 am onwards.
Atharva, Neeraj enter tennis final
Atharva Sharma will lock horns with Neeraj Yashpaul in the men’s singles’ final of the AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship being held at the CLTA Stadium, Sector 10. Atharva beat Ramanand Mukil in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, while Neeraj defeated Abhishek Gaur 6-3, 7-5 in straight sets. Amandeep Rathee and Ajay Kundu lifted the men’s doubles’ title.
Golf meet: Haryana’s Rohit takes lead
Showing off his mettle, Haryana’s Rohit came back from behind to play a fantastic round of 5 under for the day with a round of 67 to finish with an overall score of 8 under after third round to take the lead on Day 3 of the Samarvir Sahi Golf Championship being held at the Chandigarh Golf Club. Jaiveer of Railways was three shots behind Rohit with a day’s score of 5 under. First two days’ leader Arjun Singh Bhatia slipped to the third position with a score of 2 under. Yuvraj Singh of Punjab is at the fourth spot tied with Shaurya Bhattacharya, who carded 4 under round of 68 with six birdies in the round. Former national junior boys champion Milind Soni of Telengana carded a 3 under round of 69 for the day.
UDAAN to begin at PEC
UDAAN -- a higher education initiative -- will begin at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) on March 24 and 25. It is a consolidated programme that offers a one-stop solution for students opting for higher education. International conference begins at PU
A two-day international conference on ‘Recent Trends in Biomolecules and Therapeutics’ organised by the department of biophysics, Panjab University, was inaugurated on Thursday. Professor Dulal Panda, director, NIPER, Mohali, was the chief guest, who emphasised on how different disciplines need to come together and work in cohesion. Professor Harsh Nayyar, director, research and development cell, too stressed on the importance of collaborative research work with unified efforts across disciplines.
NSS camp concludes at PGI
The National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER, concluded its seven-day NSS camp on Thursday. As many as 128 NSS volunteers participated in the event. Dr Nemi Chand, state liaison officer, NSS, was the chief guest for the valedictory function.
5 plots in Barwala auctioned for ₹19.9 crore
Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) on Thursday auctioned five commercial plots in Barwala industrial area for ₹19.96 crore. The reserve price was kept at ₹2.72 crore while ₹4.16 crore was the highest price at which one of the commercial plot was sold. HSIIDC had invited applications for auction in Manesar, Panipat and Barwala.
Blood donation camp organised at PGIMER
A blood donation camp was organised at PGIMER, Chandigarh, on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The camp was inaugurated by Husan Lal, former principal secretary (medical education), Punjab in presence of Sumit, pracharak, RSS Chandigarh, Vipin Kaushal, medical superintendent, PGI and Ratti Ram Sharma, HOD, transfusion medicine.
QS rankings: NIPER ranks 1st in pharmacy, pharmacology
National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, has retained its rank as the top university in India and seventh in Asia in QS World University Rankings in pharmacy and pharmacology subject category for year 2023. NIPER authorities said the institute has been ranked 54th in QS World University rankings in pharmacy and pharmacology subject category for year 2023.
Dr Aashish Chaudhry gets honorary doctorate degree
Chitkara University has awarded an honorary doctorate degree to Dr Aashish Chaudhry, MD, Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, Dwarka, New Delhi, for his outstanding contribution to the hospital and healthcare industry. University chancellor Ashok Chitkara and pro-chancellor Madhu Chitkara awarded him the degree at Chitkara University’s Punjab campus.
Experts deliberate on future of AI
On Day 2 of the second Annual Academic Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ConfAI) at Plaksha University’s Mohali campus on Thursday, participants attended lectures from keynote speakers, including Vasudeva Varma from IIIT Hyderabad, who discussed generating encyclopedic content in Indian languages, its challenges and opportunities. Siddharth Barman from IISc talked about collective welfare as a metric in algorithmic decision-making. Abhinav Dhall from IIT Ropar spoke about emotion-aware AI.
