JEE Main: After topping Chandigarh in Session 1, Saarth finishes on the top in Session 2 too

City topper in the JEE Main Session 1 exam held in June, Saarth Singla, 17, has also emerged on the top in the Session 2 exam that was conducted in July.
Saarth bagged AIR 41 in the Session 2 exam whose results were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday. Candidates who appeared in both sessions will be considered for JEE Advanced based on the better of the two scores.
A resident of Sector 50-D and student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, Saarth said he found the second exam more difficult than the first one.
Fond of playing sports like football, cricket and badminton, he wants to study computer science engineering (CSE) from IIT Bombay.
Saarth said he got the inspiration to become an engineer from his elder brother, Paarth Singla, who also studied CSE at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, and was now working for a software company.
Saarth’s father Sanjeev Singla is an advocate and mother Deepika Singla is a homemaker.
Just behind Saarth, Vaasu Singla got an AIR of 46. A student of Sri Guru Harkrishan Model High School, Sector 38, he is fond of mathematics and also wants to pursue CSE from IIT Bombay. His father, Neetu Kumar Singla, is an additional district general manager with BHEL. He was also among the city toppers in the JEE Main Session 1 exam.
Twins score big
Twin brothers Somya and Soumil Bansal are identical not just in looks but also in academic performance, as both figured among the Top 100 candidates in the JEE Main Session 2 exam.
Students of Government Model School, Manimajra, Somya scored AIR 73 and Soumil AIR 90.
Their father, Manish Bansal, is a businessman and mother Pooja Bansal is a homemaker. Both had prepared for the exam together and want to pursue CSE from IIT Bombay. The two are also in sync when it comes to hobbies, as both enjoy playing chess, watching movies and listening to music.
Sankalp Mittal, a student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, scored AIR 76. He also wants to join IIT Bombay for CSE. Yagya Goyal from Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 40, scored AIR 99 and wants to become a software engineer.
JEE Advanced on August 28
JEE Main, whose scores are accepted by various NITs and other engineering institutions all over the country, is also the gateway to JEE Advanced for admission to IITs, which will be held on August 28. Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main will get to appear for it.
This year, JEE Advanced will be administered by IIT Bombay.
Chandigarh accepts JEE Main scores for engineering courses at PEC, Dr SSB University Institute of Chemical Engineering, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology and Chandigarh College of Architecture.
