Punjab and Haryana high court gets one more judge, six made permanent judges

The Centre on Thursday notified transfer of justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma of Patna high court as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court.

Besides, the Centre has also notified permanent appointments of six additional judges of Punjab and Haryana high court, namely justices Vikas Bahl, Vikas Suri, Sandeep Moudgil, Vinod Sharma (Bhardwaj), Pankaj Jain and Jasjit Singh Bedi.

The Supreme Court collegium had recommended their appointment as permanent judges on April 18 after their elevation in 2021.

With the transfer of justice Sharma from Patna high court, the number of judges at Punjab and Haryana high court will be 67, the highest ever, against the sanctioned strength of 85. However, eight judges are also set to retire this year.
