Kangra police seize 154 gm heroin, five held

The CIA team of Kangra police arrested five alleged drug traffickers and apprehended two juveniles in four separate cases during an anti-drug operation, officials said on Friday.

Police officials said all the accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway. (File)

Police seized 1.413 kg of charas, 154.51 grams of heroin (chitta), two cars and a motorcycle, during the raids conducted in the jurisdictions of the Palampur, Dharamshala and Baijnath police stations.

In Dharamshala, police recovered 154.51 grams of heroin and arrested Sandeep Kumar, while a juvenile was apprehended and later handed over to his legal guardian. Officials said that police recovered 114 grams of charas and arrested Dheeraj Kumar, 24, of Chamba district in Palampur police station area. In another case, they seized 1.030 kg of charas and arrested Yoginder Kumar, 38, of Mandi district.

In Baijnath, police recovered 269 grams of charas and arrested Anil Minhas, 22, and 18-year-old boy, both residents of Kangra district. Another juvenile was also apprehended and later handed over to his legal guardian.

Police officials said all the accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
