Ludhiana: Dealer, aide steal car days after selling it to trader
The complainant claimed that the police took four days to register an FIR despite him providing details of the accused, including CCTV footages wherein the duo were captured driving away the vehicle
A car dealer and his aide stole a vehicle, wherein ₹1.7 lakh and other documents were kept, from the parking lot near Clock Tower, police said on Saturday.
The accused had sold the car to the victim a few days ago. Division Number 1 police have registered an FIR against the dealer and his aide. On Saturday, the trader and other shopkeepers even shut their shops to register their protest against police’s ‘inaction’.
The complainant claimed that the police took four days to register an FIR despite him providing details of the accused, including CCTV footages wherein the duo were captured driving away the vehicle.
Vikas Chhabra of Inder Vihar Colony said if the police did not arrest the accused in two days, he will stage a protest outside the residence of police commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
The accused have been identified as Kunal Jagan alias Binni of Deepak Cinema Road and car dealer Gagan of Kitchlu Nagar.
Chhabra said he had bought a Mahindra TUV 300 through Gagan for ₹5 lakh out of which he had already paid ₹4.5 lakh in cash. “The rest of the money was to be paid after receiving the documents of the vehicle,” he added.
The complainant added that on March 1, the accused stole the car from the parking lot.
ASI Gurmeet Singh, who is investigating the case, said the FIR has been registered under sections 379, 420 and 34 of the IPC against the accused.
The police have asked the accused to appear before them.
“The accused had said that they made a mistake and would return the car, money and other documents, but they did not turn up. The police have launched a manhunt to nab them,” the cop added.
