A 42-year-old farmer ended his life by shooting himself with a licensed pistol at his home on Peer Khana Road, Khanna, on Sunday morning.

Inspector Vinod Kumar, station house officer at Khanna City-2 police station, said that the reason behind why he took the extreme step has not been ascertained yet. The body of the victim has been sent for postmortem to the civil hospital and inquest proceedings have been initiated under Section 174 of CrPC.
The deceased was a farmer and also owns a dairy. He was living with his parents, who are both teachers, wife and two children, including a son and a daughter.
