Ludhiana government schools completes first leg of Business blasters scheme
The schools which were selected, under the Business blasters scheme launched in November, are — GSSS Dakha, GSSS Punjab Agricultural University, GSSS Purain, GMSSS Cemetery Road, GSSS Sekhewal, and GSSS Karamsar Rara Sahib
Government schools of Ludhiana have completed the first leg of the pilot project of the Punjab education department selected under the Business Blasters Scheme, which aims to encourage entrepreneurial mindset among students.
The schools which were selected, under the scheme launched in November, are — GSSS Dakha, GSSS Punjab Agricultural University, GSSS Purain, GMSSS Cemetery Road, GSSS Sekhewal, and GSSS Karamsar Rara Sahib. A total of 31 schools from nine districts of Punjab have been selected for the pilot initiative for Class 11 and 12 students.
After the launch of the scheme, the schools organised lectures and guidance sessions by local entrepreneurs, wherein students were asked to form teams of a maximum of eight members, which conducted market surveys and came up with ideas for their products. While 35 teams from Government Smart School PAU have registered, 33 teams from GSSS Dakha, 10 teams from GSSS Cemetery Road, 25 teams from GSSS Sekhewal, 1 team from GSSS Karamsar, and 11 teams from GSSS Purain registered under the scheme.
The ideas by the students include mobile applications, online gaming, products using recycled material, organic food, food corners, clothing products etc.
The principal of the GSSS PAU, Balwinder Kaur said the students visited the markets to conduct field surveys before coming up with the idea of their product. They were also directed to upload videos of the same on social media and were guided by the teachers throughout the process. After the selection of their ideas seed money of ₹ 2000 per student will be provided.
At the launch event of the scheme, 229 teachers and principals from 31 government schools were trained for inculcating experiential learning among the students and helping them in taking calculated risks.
A teacher at GSSS Purain said approx. 60 per cent of the submitted ideas will be selected for funding. The teachers said while the submission process has been completed, they are not sure when these will be initiated, as the final exams are around the corner and the teachers are devoting their time to achieve better results.
