The protesters appealed to teachers to join the struggle and raised their demands, including regularisation of temporary, outsourced teachers and restoration of the old pension scheme.

Along with this, the DTF demanded restoration of 37 allowances, including rural and border area allowance. Leaders also demanded restoration of ACP scheme.

The president of Khanna 1 block of the organisation, Gurbachan Singh, said the government is hindering the smooth educational process of schools with the unnecessary interference of edutech industry.

“Such illegal online educational projects run by some arbitrary private agencies should be stopped immediately,” Singh said.

Blaming the Punjab government, Devinder Sidhu, vice-president of the organisation, said, “The government is not concerned either about the declining number of students in government schools or dear fees charged by the private schools.”
