The fire broke out on the third floor of the factory. It also spread to the second floor of the building.

There were around 400 workers inside the unit who were safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported. Around 8 fire tenders were pressed into service and it took fire-fighters three to four hours to douse the flames.

As per the initial information, the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the machine. However, the exact cause of the incident was yet to be ascertained.

As the factory is located around 15km away from the fire brigade headquarters, it took the fire tenders around 20 to 30 minutes to reach the spot.

Kirpa Shankar, who works at the factory, said that a huge quantity of fabric and raw clothes were stored inside the unit which have been reduced to ashes.

Atish Rai, sub-fire officer, said that as the source of the fire was on the third-floor, firefighters had to put extra effort to control the fire.
