He was identified as Dinesh Kumar, 25, of Mauli Jagran village.

Police had arrested him under Sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (procuration of minor girl) of the Indian Penal Code on July 23, 2019, on complaint of the 14-year-old victim’s father. The complainant had told the police that his daughter worked as a maid in a house in Sector 8, Panchkula. On July 23, she did not reach her workplace and he suspected Dinesh of kidnapping her with an intention to marry her.

The victim, a Class 8 dropout, in her statement before the court, denied having been kidnapped and said that she had herself gone with the accused to Mansa Devi and returned home the next day.
