Chandigarh MC to join ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign
A meeting was held on Monday to chalk out the plans, chaired by Chandigarh mayor Anup Gupta, presided over by deputy commissioner Vinay Partap Singh and MC commissioner Anindita Mitra, and attended by councillors and senior MC officers
To honour freedom fighters and bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country, the Chandigarh municipal corporation will start the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign from August 9 by organising various programmes as per directions of the UT administration and central government.
A meeting was held on Monday to chalk out the plans, chaired by mayor Anup Gupta, presided over by deputy commissioner Vinay Partap Singh and MC commissioner Anindita Mitra, and attended by councillors and senior MC officers.
“A nationwide celebration of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ programme (Mitti Ko Naman, Veeron Ka Vandan) will be carried out from August 9 to 30. A state-level programme will be organised for erecting Silaphalakam, on which quotes from PM Narendra Modi and names of the veers are to be inscribed. Panch Pran Pledge promising to commit to nation building will be taken holding the soil in hand. Every programme dedicated to the campaign will be concluded by hoisting the National Flag,” said the DC.
The municipal commissioner said MC will start “Vasudha Vandhan” programme from August 9 by planting saplings.
Also, a unique garden, named Amrit Vatika, will be developed in New Delhi for which a state-level programme “Kalash Yatra” is to be conducted from August 16 to 20. Soil from all 35 wards will be collected and will be sent collectively to New Delhi for the final event from August 27 to 30.
