The accused, Amir Singh, alias Babban Sarpanch, from Sherpur Takhtuwala, Moga, was booked on the complaint of lawyer GPS Ghuman.

He alleged that Amir, whose ID is Babban Sarpanch on Facebook, posted abusive comments against the Prime Minister on a video posted by a web channel, where the he was interacting with some Olympians and encouraging them.

Ghuman had sent a complaint to Union home minister Anil Vij in January this year and after an inquiry as well as legal opinion, police have registered a case under Section 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector-7 police station.
