No flight to Sharjah in Chandigarh airport’s winter schedule
As per airport authorities, Air India Express, which operates the flight, has not shared its timetable for the winter schedule, which will kick in from October 29
The winter schedule at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport does not feature flights to Sharjah that were so far operating thrice a week.

“As of now, the flight to Sharjah will discontinue from October 27. We have written to the airline to share the schedule, but they have not reverted so far,” said airport CEO Rakesh Ranjan Sahay.
Meanwhile, though no new domestic destination or international flight has been added in the 2023 winter schedule, the total number of flights has been bumped up from 44 to 49.
Also, three new airlines – Air Asia,Spice Jet and Air India Express – will begin operations at the airport.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday approved the winter schedule.
Air Asia Airlines will be offering flights to Goa, Spice Jet to Hyderabad, Patna, Varanasi, Mumbai and Pune, and Air India Express to Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.
Among the existing airlines, Vistara and IndiGo have added flights to Goa.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the international airport on September 11, 2015. For eight years since, the airport has been offering only two international flights – to Sharjah and Dubai. Apart from the thrice-a-week Sharjah flight, which now hangs in balance, the Dubai flight operates daily.
A direct flight to London was proposed to be launched by October 2022. It was planned to connect Mohali to Heathrow Airport in London or Birmingham airport, which is around 170 km from the UK capital. But even after several meetings with the British High Commission, it is yet to take off.
