The arrested men have been identified as Manjit Singh, alias Baba of Gurdaspur, and Saudaghar Singh of Ludhiana. Both the accused were arrested and booked on the basis of a video clip that police claim has gone viral.

The case was registered on the complaint of sub-inspector (SI) Paramjit Singh, who is in-charge of the police post, Galiara.

He said, “We were patrolling at the secretariat gate when a video got viral. The video seemed to be shot near the two Nishan Sahib at the Akal Takht. In the video, a person is seen giving a speech while another person is seen standing next to him. In his speech, the person shouted the slogans, ‘referendum zindabad’, ‘Khalistan zindabad’. In this video, the speaker also spoke about the creation of a separate country and waging war against the country.”

Both the accused were booked under Sections 121 and 121-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the E-Division police station.
