PMDA allocates ₹9.85 cr to strengthen Ghaggar embankments

PMDA has issued a tender for the project, with a completion timeline of nine months; tenders will be accepted until January 27

The Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) is set to spend ₹9.85 crore on strengthening existing protection works and spurs along the Ghaggar river. The project also includes providing an apron in front of the existing spur facing the Multi-Feature Park in Sector-24, the stretch facing Sectors 26 to 28, and repairing the damaged apron near the Herbal Park in Sector-26.

The project will include maintenance of the works for a period of three years. PMDA has issued a tender for the project, with a completion timeline of nine months. Tenders will be accepted until January 27.

NK Payal, executive engineer, PMDA, said that the main objective of the project is to repair damaged spurs, as their deteriorated condition can lead to uncontrolled water flow and soil erosion, which may pose a danger to nearby areas.
