Punjab: House fire claims 52-yr-old man in Amritsar
A fire on Race Course Road claimed the life of 52-year-old Kiran Ahuja, who suffocated while trying to extinguish it; cause under investigation.

A fire broke out at a house on Race Course Road here early on Wednesday, claiming the life of a 52-year-old man who died of suffocation while trying to control the blaze, police said.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, they added.
The deceased, identified as Kiran Ahuja, ran a wholesale cosmetics business. Other family members present in the house were rescued safely, police said.
Fire teams reached the spot and managed to douse the blaze nearly after one-and-a-half hours.
Police said a probe is on to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
