Union minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday reacted sharply to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s controversial “poisonous snake” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“After facing constant defeats in elections, the frustration of Congress leaders is evident from such remarks,” said Anurag Thakur. He said, “Congress leaders, incluiding Sonia Gandhi and the present party chief, constantly use unparliamentary language against the Prime Minister. Recently, they were seen talking about digging a grave for the PM. Are they trying to plot a conspiracy against the Indian Prime Minister? The Congress should apologise over the remarks otherwise Karnataka voters will forfeit their security,” he said.

He said the Congress made Mallikarjun Kharge the party president and he gave a statement worse than that by Sonia Gandhi. “Congress leaders are also conspiring against the Indian democracy abroad in connection with foreign forces,” he said.

He also took a jibe at Congress for it confronting the Union government on barring the states from imposing cess on water. “The move will discourage investment in the state,” he said.
