Delhi budget 2023 to be presented tomorrow
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the Delhi government's budget, day after asking the Arvind Kejriwal government to resubmit it.
Delhi finance minister Kailash Gahlot will present the budget in Delhi assembly on Wednesday.
“Tomorrow, I shall present the @ArvindKejriwal Govt’s Budget for FY 2023-24 & my 1st as Delhi’s Finance Minister. This budget is poised to serve the best interest of citizens & take our city to greater heights. Tomorrow will be recalled as a historic day for Delhi’s development”, Gahlot tweeted.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the Delhi government's budget, day after saying it had asked the Arvind Kejriwal government to resubmit it over clarifications regarding allocation of funds for infrastructure and advertisements.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the budget had been approved ‘without any change’, questioning the practice of sending it to the Centre for clearance.
“Nobody gained by stalling the Delhi budget for a day. I request the prime minister to let us work for the people of Delhi. Please cooperate, don't fight with us”, Kejriwal said.
Earlier in the day, Kejriwal had written a letter to the prime minister amid showdown with the Centre over the budget which was scheduled to be presented today.
“For the first time in the country’s 75-year history, the budget of a state has been stopped. Why are you angry with us Delhiites? Please don’t stop the Delhi budget. The people of Delhi are requesting you with folded hands to pass our budget", he said in his letter to PM Modi.
