Delhi LG not giving Kejriwal an appointment to meet: Officials

Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has not been given appointment to meet lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, an official in the CM office said on Tuesday, a day after Saxena and Kejriwal sparred over the appointment of 10 nominated members in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the presiding officer in the civic body, and other issues.

In a letter to Kejriwal on Monday, Saxena had asked Kejriwal to fix a meeting to iron out differences between the two over various governance issues, including the municipal appointments. Kejriwal shot back a letter, urging the LG to have a public discussion on the issues. He also flagged “sarcastic remarks by the LG in his letter”. (ANI)

“The LG office has refused to give timely appointment to CM Kejriwal because the LG is busy and cannot meet before Friday,” the official, seeking anonymity, said.

No reaction was available from the LG’s office on the claim by the CM’s office.

The official in the CM’s office said that after Saxena’s letter, Kejriwal had immediately written back to the LG, accepting the invite and seeking an appointment on Tuesday. “The LG office said that the LG does not have time to meet the CM before Friday 4pm,” the official said.
