Head constable kills himself in south-west Delhi
Police said the constable who died was on the night shift at the Israel Embassy residential complex in Vasant Vihar on Tuesday
A 37-year-old head constable was found dead in southwest Delhi and a 35-year-old head constable attempted to set himself ablaze in New Delhi area on Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said the constable who died was on the night shift at the Israel Embassy residential complex in Vasant Vihar on Tuesday. Around 7.15am on Wednesday, when a staff member of the morning shift went to relieve him, he noticed that the rest room was locked from inside. Suspecting something amiss, he immediately called the police control room. Police reached the spot in five minutes and broke down the door, and found the constable had ostensibly shot himself in the head with his service rifle,” said a senior officer, asking not to be named.
“No suicide note has been recovered yet. The matter is being investigated,” he said.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old head constable set himself afire near Vijay Chowk on Wednesday morning, police said, adding he was saved by police personnel there. They added the reason he attempted to take his own life was unclear.
“He did not sustain any major injuries, except some minor burns on his neck and chest,” said a senior police officer aware of the matter.
