Prepping for vacay: Shoppers head to Delhi’s affordable markets

Every other person in Delhi-NCR is either on a summer vacation or dreaming about one while they deal with the heat

Every other person in Delhi-NCR is either on a summer vacation or dreaming about one while they deal with the heat. And they sure love vacation shopping from good ol’ budget markets such as Sarojini Nagar and Lajpat Nagar. From coord sets to summery dresses, here’s what the vacay planners are buying!

Naina Bajaj, a city-based student who was shopping with her mother for a beach vacation, says, “We didn’t want to spend a bomb at the malls. So, we came to Sarojini! We got a cami top here at ₹250 to wear to the beach.” Meanwhile, Delhiite Narmada Kaushal, who will be going to Shimla for a staycation soon, shares, “I am going on a trip and wanted a pair of chunky shoes. Boots are good for summer vacations in the hills! I’m also buying coord and tie-dye sets, a couple of sandals and some jewellery.”

Khushboo Wadhwa, a banker from Gurugram, who was shopping at Lajpat Nagar to prep for her trip, says, “Delhi is super hot right now, and we’ll be heading to my favourite beaches in Goa. I bought two dresses for just ₹1,000, and I couldn’t have asked for a better buy!”

Sellers inform us that dresses and balloon tops are popular among youngsters. KK, a shopkeeper from Sarojini Nagar, says: “Bacche ₹200 ke crop tops, flowy dresses aur cami tops khareed rahe hai. Sab ghoomne jaa rahe hai.”
