A 19-year-old man died on the spot after he allegedly jumped into a stairwell from the fifth floor of a condominium in Sector-102 in Gurugram on Friday evening, said police on Saturday.

According to police, the teenager’s mother and grandmother were at home when he left the house informing them that he was going to purchase a pen for an examination at his college on Saturday. Instead of going to a shop, he came out of his flat and jumped into the stairwell of the condominium.
Police said a security guard heard a thud when the teenager jumped into the stairwell and found him lying on the ground floor. He immediately informed the man’s family members and police.
Public relations officer of Gurugram police Subhash Boken said no suicide note was found. “The family members do not suspect any foul play. They also ruled out the possibility of the teenager suffering from depression,” he said.
Boken said prima facie, it seemed to be a case of suicide and the same was being established from the preliminary investigation carried out by forensic experts.
Police recovered the teenager’s mobile phone from his pocket, which got damaged due to the fall. “It would be sent for forensic analysis to look for any relevant information that would help us understand why he took the extreme step,” said Boken.
He added police were carrying out an inquiry in the suicide case as per Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
