A car and a motorcycle of the total seven suspects were seized from the spot, said the police, adding that the incident took place between 6pm and 7pm on Monday
The police on Monday arrested five people from the entrance of the wildlife department colony inside Sultanpur National Park for allegedly assaulting a wildlife inspector of the state forest department after he asked them not to consume liquor on the government property, said the officials on Tuesday. All the suspects are students of a college located near the colony, said the police.

A car and a motorcycle of the total seven suspects were seized from the spot, said the police, adding that the incident took place between 6pm and 7pm on Monday.
The injured inspector — Rajesh Kumar, 36 — received two stitches on the head, said the police, adding that one suspect Prabhat Kumar, 20, suffered a fracture in the right leg after he fell into a ditch when he was trying to escape after the incident. The injured inspector and suspect was admitted to CHC Farrukhnagar, but was later moved to the Sector 10 government hospital, said the police.
The police have identified the arrested suspects as Vinay Kumar, 19, Neeraj Kumar, 19, Rahul Sharma, 22, Mukul Singh, 22, and Dev Sisodia, 23. Prabhat is yet to be arrested as he is undergoing treatment, and an investigation is underway against the seventh suspect to ascertain his involvement in the case.
Based on the victim's complaint, a case was registered against the seven suspects under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 160 (punishment for committing affray), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) at the Farrukhnagar police station on Monday night.
The injured inspector alleged in the FIR that “he was returning to his official quarter after duty, when he spotted the suspects stopping their car and a motorcycle at the entrance of the colony”. According to the victim, he noticed that the suspects were consuming liquor and keeping their bottles on the bonnet of the car. When he asked them not to do so as government officials and their families lived in the residential quarters, they hit him on the head with a stick and then assaulted him.
“I yelled for help, and the staff of a restaurant under the Haryana tourism department, which is located nearby, came to my rescue. I asked the staff to close the main gates of the colony and inform the local station house officer,” Kumar said.
Sunil Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Farrukhnagar police station, said, “After the inspector asked the suspects not to drink liquor on the government property, they hit him on the head with a stick and assaulted him further... The arrested suspects would be granted bail within a day. An investigation is underway to nab the seventh suspect, who is still on the run.”
