Nandini Chakravorty appointed Bengal chief secretary, 1st woman to hold the post
A 1991-batch IAS officer Manoj Pant, who demitted office on Wednesday, has been appointed principal secretary to the West Bengal chief minister

KOLKATA: Nandini Chakravorty, a 1994 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was on Wednesday appointed as the chief secretary of West Bengal.
She is the first woman chief secretary of the state.
Chakravorty, who was the state’s home secretary, replaces Manoj Pant, who turned 60 in June this year but was granted a six-month extension. Pant, who vacates the top bureaucratic post in the state, has been appointed principal secretary to the chief minister. He was a 1991 batch IAS officer.
Chakravorty was the additional chief secretary, home and hill affairs department with additional charge of the parliamentary affairs department and tourism department.
