4 officials suspended for violation of transfer rules in UP health dept

LUCKNOW The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday suspended four health department officials for the alleged violation of rules with regard to the recent transfers in the department.

Since July first week, the staff in the department had been protesting transfers of doctors and other medical staff, saying that these were in violation of the transfer policy. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak had also sought a reply in this regard from the additional chief secretary, medical health. Besides, an inquiry was being conducted into these transfers by the health directorate.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Gupta, additional director medical and health services (para-medicals), Uttar Pradesh, was suspended over the transfer issue.
“Rules were not followed in transfers done on request for ECG technicians, pharmacists, lab technicians and X-ray technicians. Gupta will be attached with the office of director general (medical health) during his suspension period,” stated the order by secretary, health department.
Dr Ashok Kumar Pandey, additional director, medical and health services (health/administration), Uttar Pradesh was also suspended. “The transfers of lab assistants on personal request violated the transfer policy,” said the order from the secretary, health department, UP state administration.
Dr Arvind Kumar Verma, joint director (paramedical), was suspended for the transfers of ECG technicians, pharmacists, lab technicians and X-ray technicians on personal request, which were also in violation of the transfer policy rules.
Mohd Ismail, administrative officer in the health department, was suspended on the basis of the report prepared by the health directorate on the transfer issue.
