“A 42-year-old Agra resident, who wanted to go abroad, tested positive on Thursday evening. He is asymptomatic and in home isolation,” said Dr AK Srivastava, Agra chief medical officer (CMO).
The patient from Mathura is a 54-year-old woman who got tested for Covid as she was suffering from fever and cough, Dr Bhoodev, Mathura deputy CMO said, adding samples taken from her family were sent for testing. This was the second Covid case detected in Mathura in March.
The Agra CMO said persons who test positive for Covid would be tested again in a gap of 10 days. He added that a health team would be deployed at Taj Mahal to conduct sample testing.
It was after two months that Agra reported a Covid case. On January 12, two tourists from the US, who were part of a group that visited Taj Mahal, were diagnosed with the infection. By the time the reports of the 23-year-old and 63-year-old came back, the group had left for Jaipur.
On January 3, a 34-year-old Agra resident tested positive after his recent visit to the US.
