LUCKNOW Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit president, Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary on Thursday said his party was working for the welfare of all communities while the erstwhile Samajwadi Party government worked to protect rioters.

“Earlier, goons, mafias and criminals threatened people, grabbed their land and houses as well. But the BJP government under chief minister Yogi Adityanath has established the rule of law in the state. Action has been taken against gangsters. The government is working with a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and corruption,” said Chaudhary addressing party booth presidents and office-bearers in a meeting in Mainpuri.

The UP BJP chief directed party workers to launch a door-to-door campaign in Mainpuri Lok Sabha assembly constituency to make people aware about the welfare and development schemes launched by the state government.

“Party ‘panna pramukhs’ should contact voters to motivate them to vote in the bypoll on December 5. The party is contesting the by-election under the leadership of booth presidents, whereas the SP is contesting the election for a family,” said Chaudhary.

The BJP will create history in the by-election by winning the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. “Under the previous regimes in UP, cases registered against rioters and terrorists involved in Sankat Mochan Mandir, Ayodhya and Lucknow court blasts were withdrawn. The BJP government has taken strict action against criminals and rioters. Fearing action, anti-social elements remain in their houses,” he added.

Chaudhary said a worker in the BJP can reach any high position in the party organization, whereas in SP, all the big posts, including that of the national president are reserved for one family only. “Opposition parties are working on the principles of dynasty and family. Under the previous governments, even basic facilities like electricity, water and roads were out of reach of people due to favouritism and corruption,” he said.
