District-level summit ahead of Global Investors’ Summit 2023: Surpassing target, Lucknow gets investment proposals worth ₹56,299 cr
The Lucknow administration signed 262 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with entrepreneurs at the daylong summit held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
In a step aimed at encouraging investment at the district level ahead of the Global Investors’ Summit 2023 to be held in here next month, Lucknow on Tuesday surpassed its target and managed to bring investment proposals of ₹56,299 crore against the set goal of ₹50,000 crore. The Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) 2023 will be held from February 10-12.
Besides, after the success of the Mumbai roadshow, the Yogi government is organising a mega roadshow in Lucknow on Wednesday to bring investment. Industrial development minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ will lead the roadshow in which investors of several states will take part.
The Lucknow administration signed 262 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with entrepreneurs at the daylong summit held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. According to state government’s ‘Invest UP’ portal, around 331 investors have expressed their intent to invest in the state capital.
Out of total investment, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) roped in investment of ₹15,485 crore through 68 proposals. Vice chairman, LDA, Indramani Tripathi gave a presentation of these proposals related with housing projects. As per him, these projects will ensure housing facilities for around 60,000 people and will also ensure direct and indirect employment to around 50,000 locals.
“The LDA has already approved maps of around 90 percent of these projects. Remaining approvals will be given at the earliest,” said the LDA vice chairman.
Inaugurating the summit, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said: “Industrialists and the government are the two wheels of the same cart. Goal will be achieved if we walk together. The state government has come up with a new industrial policy that has opened doors for investment. Today, investors have full faith in the BJP government.”
On the occasion, Pathak also listed out projects of the state government and air connectivity between various cities in Uttar Pradesh. “Today every major city in the state has air connectivity from Lucknow. This is the reason why business is also increasing and traders need not go outside for business,” he added.
The deputy CM also gave examples of Amroha’s dholak, Pilibhit’s flute, Lucknow’s chikan business, Prayagraj’s guava, Aligarh’s lock, Moradabad’s brass industry and Meerut’s sports industry where entrepreneurs are getting business at their native places itself.
Pathak also attacked the previous Samajwadi Party government for lack of industries before the BJP came to power in the state in 2017. “At the summit, MoUs of over ₹50,000 crore have been signed with industrialists. Now, we will ensure that these projects are rolled out at the earliest. The administration will ensure all help to industrialists in setting up their units,” said Lucknow district magistrate Surya Pal Gangwar.
