German ambassador meets U.P. CM Yogi, discusses mutual ties
Many German industrial groups interested in coming to U.P. for GIS-2023, says German ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann
German ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann on Monday said Germany is Uttar Pradesh’s partner in several fields and many industrial groups from Germany are interested to come to the state for the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors’ Summit (UPGIS)-2023 scheduled here from February 10 to 12.

He met Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath here and said Germany and India share strong economic ties and UPGIS-2023 will further strengthen mutual relations between the two nations.
“We are working together in many areas such as scientific and social exchange, climate, environment, sustainable development and energy,” said Philipp Ackermann according to an official press release here. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India now played important roles on various international forums.
About expanding bilateral relations in various fields, he said Germany is willing to work with the proposed metro light projects in Uttar Pradesh. He said Germany will ensure availability of its technical experts in this important transport project.
He said German institutes along with IIT Kanpur and MMMUT Gorakhpur are collaborating in research, development and training. The German Ambassador said Indo-German Scientific Council plans to work with other universities of Uttar Pradesh. Good results will be seen in near future.
He said the law and order situation has improved significantly in Uttar Pradesh and all efforts are being made to modernise the transport system, including airport, expressway, waterway and metro rail etc. He said Uttar Pradesh has played a major role in environmental protection and improving the eco-system through efforts like mass plantation, ban on single-use polythene and revival of rivers. He said Germany appreciates these efforts.
Welcoming the German ambassador, CM Yogi said India and Germany have a trade history of more than 500 years and both the countries are bound by a common history of economic cooperation. He said under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the bilateral relations between the two countries are scaling new heights. He said Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 24 crore, contributes eight percent to the total GDP of India.
He said Uttar Pradesh is India’s fourth-largest state area wise and one of the country’s fastest-growing economies. The CM said the state was paying full attention to the needs/expectations of the investors. He said better law and order, adequate and uninterrupted power supply and availability of a vast land bank are encouraging for industries and the state government’s industry-friendly policies have changed the environment in Uttar Pradesh.
The CM said as many as 25 sectoral policies have been prepared according to the needs of the industry and a single window system has been launched to ease procedures for investors. He said the state government is ready to provide all necessary resources to the entrepreneurs for industrial development.
Yogi said necessary infrastructure was available in Uttar Pradesh for industrial development and the state was becoming an ‘expressway state’. He said the state will soon have five international airports. He said Uttar Pradesh has India’s first inland waterway from Haldia to Varanasi and Defence Industrial Corridor is being developed here.
He said Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor passed through Uttar Pradesh. He said multimodal logistic/transport hubs are being set up in the state at Dadri and Boraki and German companies will have a favourable environment here.
