LMC told to remove encroachments, sort out mishap-prone crossings

The divisional commissioner directed authorities to mark those crossings where major traffic problems are faced.

Officials of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) must ensure that encroachments are removed from places where commuters face problems every day, said divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob during a meeting of the district traffic safety committee on Thursday.

The divisional commissioner directed authorities to mark those crossings where major traffic problems are faced. She also directed LMC officials to find out most accident-prone crossings so that a solution to the problem is found.

She also directed LMC officials to arrange parking in an organised manner to streamline traffic and to find a solution for accident-prone crossings. If a divider has to be made, then civil work should be completed at the earliest. If utility shifting has to be done then it must be at the earliest.

She also asked the LMC to issue monthly passes for those who use the parking lots daily, but to act tough against those vehicles parked on the road.

District magistrate Suryapal Gangwar directed the municipal authorities to identify crossings requiring immediate utility shifting, street lights, dividers, roundabouts so that work could be executed soon.

Additional municipal commissioner Pankaj Singh said that the locations for 83 tempo stands have been identified and tenders will be floated to develop these at the earliest.

Municipal commissioner Inderjit Singh, additional district magistrate Himanshu Gupta, traffic police, divisional transport officer, concerned officers and employees were present on this occasion.
