Major U.P. rivers flowing above danger mark

The Ganga, Yamuna, Sharda, Ghaghra, Chambal and the Betwa rivers are flowing above the danger level in various districts of U.P.

Major rivers in Uttar Pradesh, including the Ganga, Yamuna, Sharda, Ghaghra, Chambal and the Betwa, were flowing above danger level in various districts on Thursday.

According to the report of state irrigation and water resources department, the Ganga was flowing above danger level in Budaun and Ballia districts while the Yamuna was flowing above the danger level in Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur and Banda districts.

Besides, the Chambal was flowing above danger mark in Agra district and the Sharda was above danger mark at Paliakalan located in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The Ghaghra was flowing near danger level in Barabanki and Ayodhya districts. River Ken was also flowing near the danger level in Banda district.

The water level of the Ram Ganga, Gandak, Rapti, Rohini, Betwa, Ken, Chambal Rapti and the Gandak also maintained increasing trend in various districts though the rivers were flowing below the danger level.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed the district magistrates of Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Banda, Prayagraj, Mathura and Mirzapur districts to remain alert in view of flood after the rise in the levels the Yamuna and the Betwa rivers.
