Send ITI-trained youth for Agnipath: Union minister
In the meeting, the work of vocational education and skill development and technical education department were reviewed.
Union minister of education and skill development, Dharmendra Pradhan, has suggested that camps should be organised to send ITI-trained youth to become Agniveers.

He said this in Lucknow during a review meeting of various education departments of Uttar Pradesh held at Khadi Village Industries Board, on Monday. The meeting was attended by technical education and basic education ministers, among others.
The minister, however, did not elaborate on the subject. Recently, the state and country have witnessed massive protests over the scheme as youth opposed it tooth and nail as they found the scheme flawed.
In the meeting, the work of vocational education and skill development and technical education department were reviewed. Pradhan laid emphasis on introducing such courses that makes youth more employable so that along with getting education, they are ready for employment.
In the meeting, the work of the basic, secondary and higher education departments was also discussed. He said education should be made available to all. For this, emphasis was laid on registering more and more children. Presently, 1.88 crore students are enrolled in 1.3 lakh government primary and upper primary schools.
Pradhan said, “Along with education, attention should be paid to the nutrition of the children. Plantation programmes should be conducted in schools to connect the children with the environment. More and more emphasis should be given to technology in education. Children should be educated through digital media, for this more and more educational content should be prepared.”
Along with this, essays, articles, competitions should be organized on the heroes who fought for India’s independence, so that children can get information about the heroes.
Minister of state for secondary education (independent charge), Gulab Devi, minister of state (independent charge) for basic education, Sandeep Singh and other ministers informed about the progress of their respective departments.
Additional chief secretary secondary education, Aradhana Shukla, principal secretary, vocational education and skill development and technical education, Subhash Chandra Sharma, director general basic education, Vijay Kiran Anand, skill development mission director, Andra Vamsi and other departmental officers were present at the meeting.
