Bodies of 2 teenagers found hanging in Unnao orchard, four held
The post mortem reports said the girl was strangled, while the boy’s body bore several injuries and his neck was broken that led to his death. According to police probe, the two were in a relationship since they were in Class 8.
Kanpur: The bodies of a boy and a girl, both in their teens, were found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard in Unnao on Tuesday morning. Police, who initially treated it as a suicide pact case, changed the line of investigation to murder after the post-mortem examination reports arrived and took four people into custody.
The reports said the girl was strangled, while the boy’s body bore several injuries and his neck was broken that led to his death.
According to police probe, the two were in a relationship since they were in Class 8.
However, their families were against their marriage as the boy was a Scheduled Caste and the girl belonged to an upper caste. Recently, the girl’s family had lodged an FIR against the boy when he eloped with her on March 7 this year.
Both were found by the police and the boy was sent to jail on charges of kidnapping.
He was given bail by the court on May 1 this year.
His father lodged an FIR, accusing the girl’s brothers of the murder.
SP, Unnao, Siddharth Meena, who visited the site of crime, said the police were investigating the case and the culprits would be arrested soon.
The boy was last seen by his family at around 5.30 pm on Tuesday. An hour later, his family learnt that he had been beaten by the girl’s family. His father and one of his brothers reported the incident to the police, said his other brother.
“My family went to Aseewan police station three times when he did not come home till after midnight,” the brother said. “Each time, two cops were sent to our village and they did nothing. At around 6 am, the bodies were found hanging in the orchard owned by Mohd Shareef,” he said.
