Engineers working in various engineering departments/ corporations/authorities/public undertakings in all districts of UP registered protest by tying black arm bands during duty
The Uttar Pradesh Engineers Association (UPEA) on Tuesday launched a statewide agitation in protest against the suspension of senior Public Works Department (PWD) engineers over irregularities in the transfer of officers.

The engineers working in the various engineering departments/ corporations/authorities/public undertakings in all the districts registered protest by tying black arm bands during duty.
President of the UPEA Surjit Singh Niranjan and general secretary Ashish Yadav in a press statement said, the association will intensify its agitation if their demands were not fulfilled.
The demands of the UPEA includes revoking of the suspension of engineer-in-chief (development) and head of the department of UP Public Works Department Manoj Kumar Gupta, engineer-in- chief (project and planning) Rakesh Kumar Saxena and senior staff officer Shailendra Kumar Yadav. Fair inquiry should be conducted in the irregularities in the transfers, a retired senior engineer should be included in the inquiry committee.
The establishment of engineering departments should be brought under the control of the head of the department or engineer- in- chief. The pending inquiries against the engineers working in various engineering departments should be disposed off in time bound manner.
The Engineer-in-Chief or senior engineer should be posted on the rank of the principal secretary of engineering department or corporation as is prevalent in 13 states. The vacant senior posts should be filled with promotion and pending service benefits of the engineers should be completed soon, they said.
The UPEA has shot off a letter to CM Yogi Adityanath stating that it has come to the notice of the association that the list sent by the department related to transfer to the government was not issued. The transfer list was modified at the higher level before being issued at the government level. It is against the rules to blame senior engineers for irregularities. There is resentment among the engineers over the action against the senior engineers, the office bearers of the UPEA said.
